Espresso Beans: Using entities for rapid, reusable block creation with the Bean module.

This presentation aims to help people get up and running using the Bean module. (http://drupal.org/project/bean) Bean is an acronym that stands for Block Entities Aren't Nodes. Beans are fieldable, pluggable, reusable block entities. We will go over the basics of using the Bean UI for sitebuilders. We will also dive into some basic code examples for writing a custom Bean plugin.

Much of this presentation will make use of walkthroughs within a working sandbox environment. Some code examples and slides will be used for various portions of the presentation as well.

Attendees should walk away with a better understanding of Bean as a module that extends the familiar Chaos tool suite. Those unfamiliar with Entities & View Modes in Drupal 7 should have get an additional benefit from this course. The goal is to provide a groundwork for where to start with Bean, help site builders use the Bean UI and encourage budding developers to write their own custom Bean plugins.
