Building a Time Machine for Drupal

For the Content Staging Initiative within Large Scale Drupal, we built a way to preview the content of a site as it would look in different points in time.

In this session I will review the technical architecture of the Time Machine. Details will be shared about the implementation challenges and solutions. The system will be broken down into the different parts and the interrelations between the parts of the system and Drupal will be explored.

I will also be giving a demo of the Time Machine in action.

I'd like to see this session in Munich.

For the last 10 months I have been working on solving very similar problems. We have come at some of the issues from a slightly different angle. As with most things in Drupal, there is more than one way to skin a cat - unless of course Dries killed it as a kitten. I think that there is room for multiple solutions to coexist in this domain, just like contexts/panels, ckeditor/tinymce, vim/emacs etc.

If nothing else I hope to rip off some of the ideas from the LSD Content Staging Project to use in our enterprise workflow solution, [spam]which I have proposed a session on for DC Munich.[/spam]
