Drupal has a long history of spatially related modules, but we have never fully actualized what some might call GeoDrupal (spatially aware Drupal).

Still, there are lots of great efforts in this "space" and we are closer than ever to making Drupal a GeoCMS -- a Drupal able to confidently handle spatial data, query it, visualize it, and share it. To get there, we'll need to take a look back and where we came from and what is going on now. I will take you through the history of Drupal and spatial technologies, what people are deploying now, and what we can see in the near future. Finally, I will describe what the future should look like; how should Drupal be made to be spatially aware that also keeps Drupal flexible and easy to work with for developers, site builders, themers etc.

I have been a long time leader in the geospatial efforts of Drupal, and I will be gathering those currently working on these problems to contribute to this presentation and share their thoughts and ideas of where things are going.
